This parkrun course is 3 laps around Wetherby sports fields next to the River Wharfe. If you’re running the official parkrun event on a Saturday don’t forget to register online for your free barcode before you run.
This route is great if you are looking for a morning run in Leeds.
The route starts to the left of the sports centre and runs clockwise around the edge of field. Keep the hedgerow close to your left hand-side. Soon you will be taking a gradual turn right and running alongside the River Wharfe.
Run until you hit the wooden fence and take a sharp right until you meet an opening in the fence a short distance in. Go through the gap and turn left back to the edge of the river. Follow the river curving around the top end of the sports field.
As you run back towards the sports centre you will take a right into the centre of the playing fields. Stay between the three football and the rugby pitches and take a left at the edge of the most central and largest football pitch. Run down until you are in line with the car park and take a left bending around back towards the start.
That’s one lap. Now run two more to finish your official Wetherby parkrun 5k.
With the River Wharfe running around a big chunk of this route it might be worth keeping an eye on the water levels. If the river breaks its banks then the route could get pretty boggy.
This route is located on the edge of the market town of Wetherby, 12-miles north of Leeds city centre.

Food and Drink
There’s lots of options to grab a drink and a bite to eat after the run in Wetherby. Simply cross the River Wharfe on the A661 and choose from one of the cafes and restaurants. One of our picks is the Cottage Coffee Shop just above the River Wharfe picnic area. The service and food are top quality and the views over the River Wharfe are unrivalled.
