Overview

Join us on a magical tour through the greener side of Pudsey and Tong. This one is a mashup of trail, road and general gorgeous scenic countryside views.

Route Description

You’ll start from the high end of Post Hill and work your way around most of the 28 hectares of this beauty spot – meadow, woodland and waterways galore. Once you’ve conquered the constant incline (it has hill in its name after all) you will come alongside Pudsey Beck and quick short deviation onto Tong Road.

In a flash you’re off the tarmac and into the next green beauty spot – Nan Whins Wood. With fields either side you might feel a bit squeezed in this section, if so, simply gaze out at the incredible views either side. Follow the trail over several fields, past Manor Farm and Fulneck Golf Club.

At this point you’re on the return leg heading back to the start. The edge of Pudsey will come into view running along Fulneck and Roker Lane. A few more turns and your back into Post Hill and running the trail parallel to the one you started on. Keep the Beck on your left hand side and you’ll see the entrance appear. Well ran!

Warnings

The majority of the Pudsey and Tong loop 10k is trail based. As you’ll be out running for a little while we recommend you check the weather forecast and come prepared with the right gear. Rain mac and trail running shoes a goer?

Location

The Pudsey and Tong loop passes through two beauty spots…

Post Hill

Post Hill is 28 acres of woodland, meadow and waterway. It’s a popular route for walkers, families, and dog owners. Also keep an eye out for mountain bikers riding the trails.

Nan Whins Wood

Nan Whins Wood is a magical spot of nature. This hidden gem (in comparison to Post Hill) has dense woodland with the Beck running through it. If you like escaping in nature this is a must visit.

Food and Drink

This 10ker is a sure fire way to work up an appetite. Within a mile radius you can get to a couple of places that should hit the spot. Over in Pudsey is a chippy that’s pushing boundaries. The Bearded Sailor is a top 10 finalist in the ‘best new chippy’ in the UK category. Expect a high quality fish supper that’s completely sustainably sourced.

Down the road from Post Hill on Tong Road is the Beulah Bistro. If you fancy more of a sit down after your slog then this is the one. Choose from a broad menu that serves British food with a fancy twist. And a proper drink to go with it!
