Run a 5km around Leeds Dock. Pass sights like the Leeds dam and the Royal Armouries. This route was created by the Recovery Runners.
The Recovery Runners are a running community that are ‘healing souls with soles’. The group meet every Sunday morning for a run from their base in the Dock.

This route has a distance of 5.26km and an elevation gain of 70m.
The largest non-stop incline begins in the second third of of the route, and has a distance of 236m and an elevation gain of 7m. You can see this on the above elevation chart in red.
The largest continual decline is 123m long with an elevation drop of 5m which starts within the first kilometre of the route. This is shown on the chart as green.
Route Highlights
The highlight of the Leeds Dock 5km run route is the river side running in the first section of the run route, immediately after the Royal Armouries! This makes for a peaceful contrast to the second section of the route that passes shops and restaurants.
Best Time To Run
You can run the Leeds Dock 5km any time of the year. The concrete route makes it suitable in all types of weather.
Route Description
Start the run next to the Leeds Dam. Run clockwise past the Royal Armouries parallel to the River Aire. Stop just before Aire Park and run 180 degrees back around the opposite side of the Royal Armouries.
Run clockwise past the shop fronts and restaurants until you reach Chadwick Street. Follow this road around the edge of Leeds Dock until you take a right on Armouries Way back to the start of the first lap. Complete two more of these laps to reach your 5km goal.
Warnings
Watch your stride when you cross the dam on a wet day. The bridge can be prone to being a little wet and slippy.
Location
Leeds Dock is a multi-development with a leisure, office and retail presence around the River Aire in central Leeds.
The Dock is also home to the Royal Armouries – a national museum dedicated to housing the national collection of armour and arms.
Amenities
Bins can be found around the Leeds Dock complex. For the nearest toilet head to one of the cafes in the dock – North Star Coffee at Unit 32 on the Boulevard is a friendly shout!
